The Truth About Sunscreen: Are You Protecting Your Skin or Poisoning Your Body?

The Truth About Sunscreen: Are You Protecting Your Skin or Poisoning Your Body?

Hard truth to start:

You’ve been lied to about the sun your entire life. Sunscreen isn’t a magic force field—it might actually be causing more long-term harm than good if you’re not thinking it through. You want to live longer? Good. You want to look good while doing it? Even better. But you can’t blindly follow mainstream advice and expect both.

So, What’s the Deal With Daily Sunscreen?

Let’s start with the obvious:

Yes, too much unprotected sun exposure can lead to skin damage, wrinkles, and in some cases, cancer. BUT—slathering your face and body with chemical-laden sunscreen every day might be doing more damage than the sun ever could.

A lot of popular sunscreens on the market today are full of chemical filters that absorb into your bloodstream—literally. Studies have shown compounds like oxybenzone and avobenzone show up in blood samples  of application. Some of these chemicals are endocrine disruptors, which means they mess with your hormones. And if you’re someone who actually cares about optimizing your body, that’s a big problem.

Internal Sunscreen? Yep. That’s a Thing.

This is where things get interesting—and way more effective.

I don’t use sunscreen externally. I build sunscreen from the inside out. Here’s how I’ve done it for years:

1. Astaxanthin (12–16mg daily):

This is one of the most powerful antioxidants on the planet. It literally protects your cells from UV radiation. You’ll tan deeper, burn less, and recover faster. I haven’t had a serious sunburn in over a decade.

2. Polypodium Leucotomos:

It’s a tropical fern. Yeah, sounds wild, but it works. Helps reduce sun sensitivity and protects your DNA when you’re out in the sun. I take it year-round.

3. Melanotan II (careful here):

This one’s not for amateurs. Melanotan II is a peptide that helps your body produce more melanin—aka the pigment that makes your skin darker and more protected. I use it in tiny amounts to kickstart a tan without needing tons of sun.

But here’s your warning: most people overdose the hell out of this. Start extremely low. This stuff is potent. You don’t need much, and it’s easy to overdo it and end up looking like a Cheeto. You’ve been warned.

4. Ditch Seed Oils – Eat Like a Human:

If you’re still cooking with canola or sunflower oil, I need you to sit down and have a moment with yourself.

Switch to tallow, grass-fed butter, coconut oil, and ghee. Your skin literally builds itself from the fats you eat. Seed oils = weak, sunburn-prone skin. Animal fats = tougher, radiant, protected skin.

If You Are Gonna Use Sunscreen…

Alright, I get it. You’re going on vacation. You’re out all day. You’re not ready to go full primal yet.

In that case:

Use a mineral-based sunscreen only.

Look for:

  • Zinc Oxide

  • Titanium Dioxide

These sit on top of your skin and reflect the sun. They don’t get into your bloodstream, and they don’t mess with your hormones. It’s your best bet if you want external protection without internal chaos.

The System Doesn’t Want You to Know This

Big Pharma, Big Food, and Big Sunscreen (yes, that’s a thing) all benefit from keeping you weak, inflamed, and scared of the sun. They make money when you break down. They do not make money when your body runs like a high-performance machine.

But that’s what we’re here for.

Your Action Plan

1. Start internal sun protection today.

Get on astaxanthin. Toss the seed oils. Add some polypodium. Consider Melanotan II only if you know what you’re doing.

2. Switch your sunscreen.

Go through your bathroom. Toss anything that’s not mineral-based. Read the ingredients. If you can’t pronounce half of them, it’s not for you.

3. Get more sun—but be smart.

15-30 mins of natural sun daily (without sunglasses or sunscreen) is one of the best things you can do for your health. Vitamin D is critical for hormones, immunity, mood, and energy.

Your Challenge

Take a picture of your sunscreen. Send it to us. We’ll tell you if it’s trash or worth keeping.

Or better yet—go 30 days without using external sunscreen and track how your skin reacts when you clean up your fats and add internal support. You’ll be surprised how strong and resilient your body really is.

Stop outsourcing your health. Take it back.
